The Mantiques Of Park Avenue
Here are 23 items from this weekend’s Winter Antiques Show at the magnificent Park Avenue Armory. I’m guessing you’d need about $5 million to scoop them all up. The suit of armor alone was over $1 million.

That sword lots quite like the one Jean Cocteau had made when he was inducted into l’Academie Francaise…….
Is the beau in the first image a detail from a painting or wallpaper?
I’ve gone through the entire online Winter Antique Show catalog and done some Googling, and I still can’t find it. The facile execution looks like wallpaper to me, and there are one or two wallpaper purveyors listed as exhibitors.
Facile execution that looks like wallpaper? I beat the artist would get a kick out of that.
It’s a painting, but I really stood right in front of it to capture that detail shot. Perhaps he’s such a small background character you missed it.
Wish I could remember more.
It looks more like a prototype for a 50s Johnnie Walker ad than, say, a Dighton.
A huh?
